Social Responsibility

front of churchAn important link between our UU principles and the community at large, this group focuses on projects and programs of human concern. It seeks ways in which the congregation can work productively, alone or with other groups, to bring about positive results. Issues may be related to health care, education, senior citizens, environmental concerns, social action, and social justice.

Our outreach into the community includes working with Habitat for Humanity and the Housing Assistance Corporation on housing issues which face the neediest here on Cape Cod. We provide meeting space for the Mid-Cape Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, volunteers for its building projects, and financial support. For the Housing Assistance Corporation, we participate in the annual Walk to End Homelessness, sell grocery certificates which provide a contribution, and serve dinner once a month at the NOAH Shelter in Hyannis.

Our church also has a Green Sanctuary Committee which is works on environmental justice issues, and a Welcoming Committee working on LGBT justice issues.
