Brick Walkway Dedication
We dedicated our beautiful brick walkway, leading to the church from the Memorial Parking area, on September 13, 2009 in a light mist.
Rick and Ken Sears from the John G. Sears & Son Landscape Contractors, in South Yarmouth, MA installed the brick walkway. Orders are taken for engraved bricks by completing the PDF document linked to on this page .
Piper and member Martha Campbell led us from the sanctuary while playing the bagpipes and Rev. Kristen Harper performed the dedication ceremony.
Words of Dedication
We the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Barnstable dedicate this brick walkway to the service of members, friends, guests and strangers.
Recognizing the meaning embodied in each named brick, we affirm that this brick walkway stands as a living memorial for past, present and future members.
Recognizing that there are multiple paths to spiritual homes, we affirm that this brick walkway shall lead to a place of freedom, acceptance and compassion.
Recognizing the many barriers involved in finding a religious home, we affirm that this walkway shall always stand as a welcoming presence to all people regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, gender or ability.
May this brick walkway always stand as an invitation to seekers and sojourners, the joyful and those filled with pain, the religious and the spiritual, the compassionate healers and the justice makers.
Amen
