Fair Trade / Equal Exchange Coffee Project
Through the UUSC, our church reaches out to coffee-growing farmers and their families by purchasing and selling coffee and chocolate that are fairly traded. This enables farmers to earn a fair share of income, gain access to credit and technical support, and work with trading partners they can trust. Coffee and chocolate are sold every Sunday after the service. Fifteen percent of the income received goes to the UUSC and is used for social justice projects in coffee-farming communities such as grants to assist farmers with financial management and business planning. The church uses its share of the profits to provide coffee after the weekly service at coffee hour for visitors and members of our congregation.
